CAR FLUFF MATERIAL RECOVERY PLANT

PAL was involved in the realisation of an innovative automatic plant for the cleaning and valorisation of carwaste, i.e. the recovery of end-of-life vehicles.

By means of a centrifugal separator with a perforated grid, the plant enables the cleaning, separation and screening of the light portion of ASR from grinding. After an initial cleaning, the material enters a zig-zag air separator to further separate light fluff from residual heavy plastics. The fluff obtained is then pelletised for energy use by cement factories.

The recovery process leads to:

  • Approximately 79% fluff for energy use in the form of pellets;
  • Approximately 3.6% of heavy plastics are recyclable;
  • Additional 1.3% metals

The recovery process consists of the following steps:

  • Removal of metal dust and ash from fluff with CC.2.100/220, centrifugal machine with vane rotor and extreme fixed perforated drum; the powder is ejected through the perforated drum by centrifugal force, while the fluff remaining inside is advanced and ejected inside the rotor;
  • Additional cleaning and fluff separation with Airgrader 4.5M, zig-zag air machine
  • FDN. 1500 x 1500, star filter valve with grid separating air from the light fraction of the Airgrader;
  • Cyclone to discharge the fine material separated from the fluff through the FDN.
